France in Mulebuy's audience
France was Mulebuy's third market in our data, about 5,400 searches a month, and French buyers searched in their own terms: "mulebuy avis" for reviews, "mulebuy spreadsheet" and "spreadsheet mulebuy" for finds. Paris stands in for the whole country here because tax and customs rules are national. For the review pattern since August 2026, see Mulebuy reviews.
The rules below apply anywhere in France.
TVA and the €3 duty
Every parcel from outside the EU pays import TVA from the first euro. France's standard rate is 20%, charged on goods, shipping and duty together. Since 1 July 2026 parcels worth up to €150 also pay a flat €3 duty for each different item category inside. Above €150 of goods, normal tariff rates apply instead.
| Example parcel to Paris | Duty | TVA 20% | Tax total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 T-shirts, €45 + €20 shipping (1 category) | €3.00 | €13.60 | €16.60 |
| Hoodie and trainers, €90 + €35 (2 categories) | €6.00 | €26.20 | €32.20 |
| Jacket, jeans, cap, belt, €120 + €30 (4 categories) | €12.00 | €32.40 | €44.40 |
Worked examples only; use the import duty calculator for your own numbers.
Count categories, not items, and add 20% on everything.
Lines, carriers and relay points
Tax-included (IOSS or DDP) lines collect duty and TVA with the shipping price; postal and courier lines collect them before delivery, often with a handling fee. The final leg is usually La Poste's Colissimo, Chronopost, or a relay-point network such as Mondial Relay. Relay points are practical in Paris apartment buildings where couriers often leave a notice. Fake SMS messages about unpaid customs fees are common in France; pay only through the carrier's own site.
Choose a tax-included line and a relay point for the calmest delivery.

French customs and counterfeits
France is strict. Under the Code des douanes, importing or holding counterfeit goods without proof of their lawful origin is a customs offence. Goods are confiscated and the fines are calculated on the value of the goods, with heavier penalties possible. Private buyers do receive notices from customs after parcels are checked. As in Italy, the rule concerns the goods and applies whichever agent or marketplace you use.
In France, counterfeit goods are confiscated and the buyer can be fined.
Paying and moving from Mulebuy
Pay each order by card or PayPal so a dispute remains possible, and avoid topping up wallet balances. Lovegobuy and BBDBuy are agents with a strong French following; see their pages on the spreadsheets hub, and compare a real parcel with the alternatives guide. Old Mulebuy links move with the link converter, and EU sizes are in the size converter.
Compare tax-included French lines, then move your links.
French-speaking buyers and agents
French buyers favour agents with French-language support and lines to relay points. Lovegobuy and BBDBuy are the names that come up most in French searches. When comparing, ask whether the French line is tax-prepaid and whether it delivers to Mondial Relay or similar relay points, which avoids missed deliveries in Paris apartment buildings.
Ask for a tax-prepaid line to a relay point.
France also counts relay-point and La Poste delays around public holidays and the end-of-year peak. Order early in November and December.
Belgian and Swiss French-speaking buyers should note that Belgium applies 21% VAT under the same EU rules, while Switzerland is outside the EU and has its own import thresholds.
